The text-indent property, a tip

Post by Co-Admin »

Hello, I repeatedly notice processes that are apparently incorrect due to ignorance of nested designs (CSS / HTML) and which mutilate the design in the front end. Of course, the individual case of the classes or IDs decides, including any extensions.

If you use headers within the class or use your own small logos that include your website name and/or board description, it makes no sense to include this information in the ACP / Board settings not to be entered.

Site name:
and
Site description:

to leave out content. Omission can lead to an error (parse error) in the W3C validator and, under certain circumstances, to a warning (empty content - empty heading for h1).

The lack of h1 will also not please the search engines.

Furthermore, or in logic, the finely adjusted floating (search box, etc.) may collapse and the distances may no longer match each other. The design decides on a case-by-case basis.

Solution - first aid: Use -> text-indent (an example) ....

stylesheet.css

Code: Select all

.site-description h1 {
	text-indent: -5600px;
}

.site-description p {
	text-indent: -5500px;
}

This means that the above-mentioned entries in the ACP (board settings) are moved out of view and can still be recognized and read in the browser world and by search engines. And is usually W3C compliant.

From my point of view:
In principle, omitting this information from the ACP is inappropriate. What consequences arise and how regulations are designed to be compliant need to be carefully considered. Adjustments are inevitably relevant for each design (classes, IDs, extensions).
